The team here at Foras are excited to introduce their newest stockist to the Foras Team – HortiCo.
Based at Drove Orchards near Thornham, HortiCo nursery and garden emporium first opened its doors to the public in Autumn 2020 and has been flourishing ever since. Owned and run by local botanical experts Jez Scoles and Gary Nelson, HortiCo combines a traditional nursery, stocking a huge variety of houseplants, shrubbery and succulents with a stunning outdoor space featuring pots and planters and even a gift shop with a large range of botanical artwork, gifts and garden accessories.
Having previously run the Burn Valley Nursery in South Creake for several years, Jez and Gary are both qualified horticulturists with a wealth of knowledge between them. They have pooled their experience of design, landscaping and planting to create this stunning new venture, with the aim of making buying plants and gardening products as effortless and enjoyable as possible, in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.
Keen to support local businesses, especially during the uncertain times of the COVID19 pandemic, when approached by HortiCo in November 2020, Director Claire Brutnall was keen to collaborate with this innovative and exciting new venture. As it turns out, the timing could not have been better – Due to ongoing access issues and concerns over keeping the public safe in such a limited space, the decision had sadly been taken to close our Burnham Market Showroom and Studio around the same time, so the opportunity to gain a stockist on the North Norfolk coast was too good to turn down!
It’s wide open spaces, and prime location at Drove Orchards (also known for the famous Eric’s (posh) fish and chips, Mim’s Gelato and the Drove Orchards Farm Shop), HortiCo, with it’s aspirational range of plants and garden accessories was the perfect fit for Foras. Shared aims of providing a professional and inspiring customer experience, based on genuinely knowledgeable staff and high quality products, meant that the transition to a Foras stockist for HortiCo was a simple one.
As soon as a partnership was established, the process of installing a comprehensive range of Foras products began.
From stunning water features, to vintage planters and garden stakes, via stone sculptures and benches, the impressive scale of the site at HortiCo has allowed us to display a large selection of our garden accessories to their best. Set against a backdrop of inspirational planting and stunning out to sea views, HortiCo also proved an ideal location to display our impressive range of tiles and flagstones, and since installing areas of external paving here, Foras have been approached by other businesses at Drove Orchards for their design expertise.
The perfect combination of horticultural knowledge and experience at HortiCo, and the extensive range of pots and planters at Foras has created a perfect partnership for creating inspirational planting concepts, with Gary even starring in his very own instructional planting videos (available at foras.co.uk later this month) to help those lesser green fingered amongst us to realise our dreams of a beautiful garden or outdoor space.
