Signature Gin
The Foras Signature range is a collection of exquisite drinks, created by artisans in Norfolk, a marriage of local ingredients and local talent. Introduced to celebrate 21 years of Foras our Signature Gin is the ultimate expression of Norfolk spirit.
The name Gin is originally derived from the Latin word for Juniper, which has long been used for medicinal purposes, its strong aroma was thought to protect against the black death and various other ailments. Monks and alchemists throughout Europe distilled fiery tonics from wine infused with Juniper, the result was a strong yet highly drinkable beverage. Over the centuries the recipe refined to the smooth, clear, botanical spirit we know today.
Foras Signature Gin is distilled in our home county of Norfolk by a small artisan producer. Local Juniper berries are used to provide a piney and resinous flavour that defines gin while verbena adds a fragrant and aromatic layer.
Given Norfolk’s coastal location, we have incorporated sea buckthorn, known for its refreshing acidity and rounded everything off with orange peel for a bright and zesty citrus note. Even the water used in the recipe is drawn from a local borehole. The resulting Gin contains the very essence of Norfolk in every sip.
Due to our unique botanical blend, we recommend that Foras Signature Gin is served with full tonic and a slice of orange. The taste is aromatic and fresh, perfect for sipping in the summer sunshine or beside a warming fire in the wintertime.
