Handmade in Norfolk by a local artisan, our stunning Oberon Armillary will become a focal point in your garden.
Presented on our Surmi Natural Slate Plinth with it’s rustic textured finish, our exclusive Oberon Armillary with it’s striking astronomical design is guaranteed to impress!
Stability is ensured by the addition of a Brindal sandstone base with a 50mm brace onto which the Natural Slate Plinth is secured.
Invented circa the 3rd Century BC, armillary spheres traditionally consist of spherical frameworks of rings representing longitude and latitude, as well as other astronomically important features, all centred around the Earth or the Sun. They were also used heavily in renaissance art to represent wisdom and culture.
Sourced locally for authenticity, each Mystras Armillary is hand-crafted to order in a bold imposing solid steel and enhanced by a clear coated lacquer which catches the light.
Forged from mild steel the armillary is designed to age and oxidise over time, and as such has not been powder-coated.
Please Note: This is a decorative Armillary and does not have the functionality to tell the time.
Available in 2 plinth heights – 75cm and 90cm
Our Surmi Natural Slate Plinths are also available to purchase separately
Please Note: Our Oberon Armillary is hand made to order and will be delivered to you within 4-6 weeks
Please Note: Oxidisation will occur from the moment the Oberon Armillary is situated outside, this natural process will add to the charm and character to the piece and does not constitute a reason for return.
