Garden Stories – Planting with Lucy – Part Three

planting with lucy

I hope you all enjoyed my previous blog post on planting in the Keswick Vintage Zinc Planter. I’m back with more inspiration ideas to help you create your own perfect garden space!

Vintage Copper Beech Planter
Size(s): Small, Medium, Large
Plants featured:
Large: Trachelospermum Jasminoides
Medium: Digitalis Albiflora, Agapanthus ‘Black Beauty’
Small: Astrantia Gill Richardson, Geranium Sanguineum ‘Album’

These ‘on trend’ and unique vintage planters are bursting full of eye-catching detail and character. They easily hold their own alone or as a trio for a bold statement.

There is no need to over complicate the planting so I have used a classic and understated colour palette in my selection. Starting with the graceful Star Jasmine screen. This is a beautifully scented, evergreen climber that offers needed privacy away from the ‘hustle and bustle’, where you can relax and breath in the sweet scent of those delicate starry white flowers.

Next up, I have used two colour palettes encompassing ‘Light and Dark’ with the dark tones of violet blue and crimson red flowers through to white in contrast.

In the medium planter, we’ve gone for a simple slender iconic white foxglove, sharing the space with Agapanthus ‘black beauty’. This striking bloom is almost as dark as a clear night sky and will show off through the summer months with its long-standing blooms.

So, if you are looking to transform an area which offers sun and partial shade this daring planting would work a treat.
